Stake is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team in Sydney.

About the role

We’re looking for a commercially-minded Senior Financial Accountant to help develop a best-in-class finance function for Stake’s global operations. This role involves taking the maturity of the finance function to a new level through an enhanced focus on financial and accounting discipline, overhauling processes and supporting growth by enabling better decision making.

This role is based in our Sydney office and you will have close contact with our regional offices in Sao Paulo, London and other locations as Stake grows. The role reports into the Group Financial Controller, working closely with our Financial Accountant. It requires an attitude to change things up and get things done. This role is ideal for someone who is technically sound, able to lead improvement projects, has commercial acumen and a desire to tackle a broad range of challenges in a fast paced environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Build out financial accounting processes that are scalable and meet the demands of a growing global business operating across multiple regions - working closely with business functions and regional heads;
  • Develop internal and external financial reporting processes and capabilities;
  • Improve and own regulatory financial reporting compliance across the group;
  • Be responsible for the development of financial accounting policies and procedures;
  • Lead the build out of an internal controls framework;
  • Cross-train on financial accounting processes to eliminate single points of failure;
  • Produce year end consolidated accounts & financial statements and manage external financial statement audits, working closely with our Financial Accountant;
  • Have the opportunity to work across commercial finance projects and processes.

A bit about you

  • You are a qualified accountant with at least 5 years of experience, and relevant experience in previous roles;
  • You have an attitude to change things up and get things done;
  • You have a commercial acumen;
  • You have experience working in a fast-paced environment.
